Google Pixel vulnerability could let bad actors undo Markup screenshot edits

One of the fixes the Android March security patch addressed is a "High" severity vulnerability involving the Pixel's Markup screenshot tool. And while it prevents the issue for future screenshots and photos, images shared in the past might still be at risk. Reverse engineers Simon Aarons and David Buchanan discovered the vulnerability and shared more information online.

The "aCropalypse" flaw allowed someone to take a PNG screenshot cropped in Markup and undo at least some of the edits in the image. So, if you use the tool to redact sensitive information in an image, a bad actor can reveal the information.

Apple introduces online personal shoppers in the US

Image: Apple

Apple has a new way to shop from its online store in the US. The company now lets buyers video chat with Apple specialists via video chat. You can learn about the new models, trade-in offers, deals, and more. It comes at a time when the yellow iPhone 14 came out, and the next six months or so will serve as a test period before the iPhone 15 comes out in the fall.

You can see the Apple employee through the screen, but the specialist won't be able to see you. It could be helpful for people who don't live near an Apple store or those unable to visit. As mentioned, this feature is only available in the US from 7 AM to 7 PM PT. If you contact them after hours, you can do so over the phone or via chat. Those features are available 24 hours a day.

Google shutters Travel app's trip summary

Screenshot: Google

If you've found Google Travel's trip summary to be particularly useful, unfortunately, that feature is going away. Google is phasing out the feature starting May 1. You'll now just get the option to email your past and future itineraries. Trip summary came in handy for sorting previously visited places, flight details, hotel stays, and restaurant reservations in chronological order. Google also used this service to suggest other places you might want to visit. The feature also lets you review specifics about your upcoming trips (like booking numbers and flight departures).
