Fujitsu Toshiba announce IS12T, world's first Mango smartphone

While the world waits with bated breath for Microsoft to release the long discussed and awaited Mango (WP 7.5) update to their Windows Phone OS. Fujitsu Toshiba  recently revealed their upcoming IS12T Windows Phone with Mango. Aside from a convoluted name and an array of colours (Black, Green and Pink). This smartphone is waterproof, pushes the built-in camera spec sheet with a 13 megapixel sensor and should see the light of day sometime in September althought no Canadian specific availability has been announced.

As for Mango, yeah we're waiting on that too. Microsoft has already reportedly placed the OS in manufacturer's hands and the next chapter of this epic waiting game continues.

BlackBerry Touch 9860 gets demoed on video

Coming soon to carriers, the BlackBerry Touch 9860 sports the new BlackBerry OS 7. This is RIM's third try at an all (well mostly) touch-enabled smartphone after the Storm and Storm 2.  Looks fast, impressive and we can't wait to see it in person.

No More In-app Purchases for Kobo users on iOS

Earlier this week, Apple instituted new rules which affect Kobo Reader app user's experience on iPhone and iPad apps. The biggest change is the removal of the ability to shop within the app. This is inconvenient to users since it now requires an extra step ( and Safari) to Browse and buy new books or newspapers.  Kobo is reportedly working on a HTML 5 version of their app that will allow the functionality as originally designed. Below is Kobo's statement on the matter.

Meet Mozilla's Smartphone Concept - The Seabird 2D

Browser companies making smartphones?Where have we heard that before? The Mozilla Seabird 2D may or may not happen but we like what we see. Choice is awesome for consumers and another Android OS spinoff on today's hardware should be interesting. The Seabird 2D has ATRIX aspirations and seems to focus on similar browser based OS that can be pushed to a screen. Built in Bluettooth dongle and top notch specs. Best of all the Seabird 2D is  expected to be community built.
