Barry McCarthy, the outgoing CEO of Peloton Interactive Inc., is stepping down after a tumultuous two years at the helm. Lured out of retirement following successful CFO tenures at Netflix and Spotify, McCarthy faced a daunting task: rescuing Peloton from the brink of collapse.

McCarthy's efforts included significant cost-cutting measures like job reductions and outsourcing, a leadership overhaul, and a strategic shift towards fitness services over hardware sales. However, these maneuvers proved unsuccessful.

Threads empowers users with quote control

Threads now allows you to choose who can quote your posts—those you follow or no one at all. This update aims to foster a more positive and supportive environment, as announced by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. The quoting control feature—tested with a user group last month—is now rolling out to everyone. This comes alongside other recent additions focused on safety and user experience. 

Threads borrowed the popular Hidden Words feature from Instagram, allowing users to filter out unwanted terms from their feeds. Additionally, archiving options are being tested, enabling manual or automatic archiving based on set expiry dates.

Great news for iPhone users! WhatsApp is finally rolling out Passkey support, letting you ditch the login hassle. Now, you can securely log into your account using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

This long-awaited feature (announced in October 2023) streamlines the login process, especially after being logged out. Passkeys replace traditional passwords with on-device authentication, making them more secure.
