It’s now easier for Google to find out if an app is asking too much info from you

There are apps on the Play Store that ask way too much information from you. And while Android apps have mostly been developed to entertain and help us with our daily lives, it makes sense they need certain access to certain features—like a camera app needing access to your camera sensor. But sometimes there are other apps that ask too much from its users. For example, what would a coloring book app need with your location and microphone? These can potentially lead to leaking your personal information that you didn’t want others to know. But it’s hard to spot which apps ask too much from its users. However, Google seems to be working on that.

Roku announces 15 million active monthly accounts

Roku announced it reached 15 million monthly active accounts as of June 30, 2017 growing 43 per cent over the same period of the prior year. Users streamed nearly 7 billion hours on the Roku platform in the first half of 2017, growing 61 per cent over the same period of the prior year.

“Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the United States as measured by total hours streamed,” said Roku Founder and CEO Anthony Wood. “We are growing our active accounts by distributing our proprietary TV OS across a broad range of streaming devices with multiple price points and many new and highly rated Roku TV models from our TV brand partners.”

You can now use PayPal with Apple services

PayPal just announced that its payment service is now coming to Apple’s major services. You can now use it for the App Store, Apple Music, iTunes, and iBooks on both iOS and Mac devices. It’s available in Canada, the US, the UK, Mexico, Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain. Setting it up is similar to how you would a credit card. PayPal now shows up as a payment option. So when you select that, any purchases you made on that Apple ID will be charged to your PayPal account.
