Apple rumoured to be getting 70 million OLED panels from Samsung for iPhone 8

Apple seems to be setting some high expectations for its upcoming iPhone 8 smartphone. A new report claims Apple has ordered 70 million OLED panels from Samsung. The report seems to point us to the idea that Apple might finally be embracing the curved screen concept, which Samsung has fully embraced with its many Galaxy smartphone iterations.

There are three rumoured types of the upcoming Apple smartphone. The most premium one is said to have a 5.2-inch curved display. The other two will have non-curved screens coming in 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. According to SlashGear, the three devices are rumored to be getting wireless charging but these are currently having some overheating issues that need to be addressed. All three phones will supposedly be waterproof and one or more will have a 3D sensor for facial recognition, which could put the squarely up against Samsung’s Galaxy S8

Netflix brings offline downloading to Windows 10 PC

Netflix released a few months back the ability to download for offline viewing some of its catalogue to Android and iOS devices. The feature now comes to Windows 10 app. When you open the app, you’ll be greeted by the prompt that you can download some of the shows and movies for offline viewing. If your app doesn’t update on its own, you’ll have to make sure to update your Netflix app to get the new Download & Go feature. Much like how it works in mobile, you can visit the Available for Download section to check out what shows and movies you can check out. According to BGR, it doesn’t seem to be available on Windows 10 Mobile and Xbox One apps yet but perhaps it will in the near future.

The SoundCloud iOS app adds support for Chromecast, limits it to paying subscribers

A case of better late than never seems to have happened for SoundCloud. The music streaming service finally adds Chromecast support for its iOS—a feature that has long been available for Android. This means, iOS users can play music through more devices like TVs and speakers. To use the feature though, you’ll need to be a SoundCloud Go+ subscriber, the service’s US$10 per month subscription plan. Shared playback has also been introduced into this latest iOS update. This will let multiple users control what’s playing.
