YouTube Kids App Launches In Canada

Text and photos by Sonya Davidson

Watching videos on YouTube has become very popular over the past few years and every member of my family has gone on to stream something whether it be a clip from last night's Jimmy Fallon show that I've missed or hubby sourcing a "how to" video for some mechanical gadget gone wrong. The kids too are on there mostly for entertainment as they've heard of videos going viral from their friends.

I don't mind as they are a bit older but I still worry about what might pop up after they've viewed their originally searched content. What may seem harmless fun could potentially roll into the next video which has no filter.

Ford to recall half a million vehicles for potential fuel tank leakage issues

Ford is recalling 451,865 2010 and 2011 models of Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans made and sold in North America due to faulty fuel tanks that could cause leakage.

The issue deals with a defective canister purge valve that causes internal fuel tank pressure changes. "Repeated pressure changes inside the tank could result in a crack on the top of the tank, possibly allowing fuel to leak," Ford said in a statement. No accidents or fires have been reported, the affected vehicles were constructed at its Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico.

This is the latest in recent recall from Ford these past few months. They recalled 40,000 F-150 trucks in August for a defect where brakes could be suddenly triggered  when they're not supposed to and the Ford Fusion, Fiesta and Lincoln MKZ for problems with a latch that can cause a door to open

LG Pay becomes official, to launch soon

From left: Wi Sung-ho, CEO of Shinhan Card, Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Company and Kim Duk-soo, CEO of KB Kookmin Card

LG makes official its own mobile payment system through a special announcement made by the company’s mobile unit. Called LG Pay, it doesn’t deviate really from the other mobile payment systems like Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. It was made official during an announcement by the company of a partnership with Shinhan Card and KB Kookmin Card. One big advantage the system has over Samsung’s own system is it’ll be available for all LG phones. As to what technology they’ll use, we don’t know yet. The company is prepping for a launch but there’s no mention when this would happen and in how many markets this would be available.
