OnePlus registers OnePlus Pad trademark in Europe

OnePlus has ventured beyond smartphones in recent years. And fans are speculating whether the company is set to enter the tablet market soon. OnePlus copyrighted the term OnePlus Pad in the European Union, which seems like a curious move given OnePlus' parent company is based out of Shenzhen, China. OnePlus filed the trademark application in January this year.

As Android Police pointed out, the name is generic enough that we aren't sure what it could be. Perhaps the company is still in the preliminary stages of developing the product. We're going to keep our eye out for it anyway.

Nintendo launches new Switch with larger OLED screen

After many rumours, Nintendo unveils its new Switch model. It features a larger 7-inch, 720p OLED screen with smaller bezels. It has 64GB of storage, a wired LAN port and works with existing JoyCon controllers. It does not output in 4K, though. You can get it in a neon red/blue colour scheme with a black dock or in a white/black colour scheme with a white dock. It'll cost USD 349.99 (around CAD 434) and arrive on October 8th.

As Engadget noted, it might be tough to get your hands on this new console. The company is still contending with shortages and production issues. While the original Nintendo still sells well, the console was due for a refresh.

Waze gets Cat and Dog themes

Are you a cat or dog person? Waze wants you to choose sides with its new Cat and Dog themes, including two navigation voices that personify these well-loved household pets. According to Waze, "Users who want to hang out with a dog that's feeling upbeat, excited, but with a tendency to get distracted or a cat that's feeling skeptical, irreverent and a little neurotic can now do so by activating this theme!"
You can also change your Waze car icon to either the Meow Mobile or Woof Wagon. And you can share your preference by picking between a Cat or Dog mood. This new theme is available in English, French, and Spanish for a limited time. You can access it here.

Windows 11 will have Black Screen of Death

Windows 11 will lose the Blue Screen of Death. In its place, Microsoft is going with the Black Screen of Death. As Engadget pointed out, it will be the first significant tweak to the BSOD interface since adding QR codes in 2016. At least, the acronym still stands. It isn't known why the company opted to change it now. But the company might want a fresh new look for the new operating system.
