Story Remix is Microsoft's modern successor to Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker, which was recently removed from existence, now has a modern successor with Story Remix, which is coming in this Fall's Creators Update makes it easy to create compelling and fun videos from various sources. You can start a story or video on a phone and complete it on a PC using various effects, clip transitions, styles and even soundtracks. This really is the movie app we've long been waiting Microsoft to include in Windows 10.

Apple's App Store highlighting Montreal apps and developers

Apple's done a great job of curating Canadian content on their various app stores to give local developers and their projects a higher profile in what can be an overwhelming app store experience. US mulls laptop ban on flights from Europe

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is apparently debating on whether or not to ban laptop use in flights from Europe to the US. This comes as an extension of the ruling to ban tablets and laptops in carry ons in flights coming from African or Middle Eastern destinations. 

The fear here is that laptops or tablets can be used to hide bombs and detonated in-flight. The earlier ban on these devices still allows them to be checked-in and held in the baggage compartment. Should the ban come to fruition, this would inconvenience passengers who rely on their electronics to get work done or to entertain themselves during the long interncontinental flights. Some airlines have even required passengers bring their own devices to access in-flight entertainment like music, movies and TV.

Google's new super fast search widget coming to Chrome on Android

Search is Google's main bread and butter and is at the centre of most of their services and devices. It usually takes a few seconds to invoke a search box before you can type out a search item. A new widget, which is designed to speed through searches, comes in the dev version of Chrome and gives us a sneak peek at faster searching on mobile devices. 

Intrepid Android users can get a taste of this new widget by heading to the Play Store and download Chrome Dev. Simply add the widget to your homescreen and see how much better faster searches are.
