Facebook finally tries out GIFs in main app but only for comments

After keeping it away from its main app for years, Facebook is conceding a bit when it comes to posting GIFs. But at the moment it’ll be limited to posting GIFs as comments and not as a post on the News Feed. And it is currently available to a small number of users as Facebook tests out the feature. It’ll work pretty similar to how you post GIFs in Messenger, where you can browse trending GIFs or look for specific reactions to share.

Facebook is quick to say that they are currently just testing out the feature. In a statement to TechCrunch: “Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we’re about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.” But who knows if people use it often enough, they might roll it out to more users.

Escape rooms are a big thing lately. Now, here’s a digital version of that. Called The Other Room, this Daydream VR game requires you solve puzzles in order to escape rooms. Aside from the puzzles, the game mixes in immersive audio and what Android Police calls as bizarre 360-degree video segments. Your goal is to foil your rival’s plans but of course there will be obstacles along the way to throw you off. If you own a Daydream VR and have a Daydream-compatible phone, this game from Minority Media VR Inc. comes with a onetime payment of US$4.99.

Movado unveils first Android Wear 2.0 watch

Luxury mechanical watchmaker Movado’s first Android Wear 2.0 watch has made its debut at Baselworld 2017. And as The Verge points out, it looks pretty much like a typical Movado timepiece. The Movado Connect features the iconic single dot used as a 12 o’clock indicator and a clean, simple-looking case. Its custom watchface looks just like the company’s Museum model.

Movado won’t spill the beans about hardware yet so we can’t compare its specs with its competitors. The smartwatch is set to debut in the fall and it’ll come in five different men’s styles. Pricing will start at US$495. Movado's previous smartwatch effort was in collaboration with HP.
