Toronto Zoo to host the first Skype virtual field trip with students in Port Alberni, B.C.

To celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, Microsoft is partnering with heritage sites and points of interest including the Toronto Zoo to give Canadian students the opportunity to learn more about their country – without leaving their classroom – via Skype virtual field trips.

On Monday, January 23, 2017 join Janet Kennedy, President of Microsoft Canada and Robin Hale, Chief Operating Officer at the Toronto Zoo as they connect with students from Port Alberni, B.C. – more than 4,000 kilometers away to give a behind-the-scenes tour of the Toronto Zoo's Great Lakes Program.

FLO and Nissan Canada team up to drive electric vehicle adoption in Canada

FLO, the most comprehensive and reliable charging ecosystem in Canada, is proud to partner with Nissan Canada, one of the top electric vehicle builder in the world, in order to encourage and ease EV adoption throughout the country.

Through this association, the new FLO Home charging station will become the recommended residential charging station by Nissan Canada for owners of its popular fully electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF.  

Nissan will offer a $500 discount on the FLO Home charging station to every buyers of a new Nissan LEAF vehicle from a participating Nissan dealership between January 20 and March 31, 2017.

FLO will also offer them a free access card to its charging network, the largest in Canada, which provides EV drivers with more than 3,000 charging stations from coast to coast.

Netflix teases next season of ‘House of Cards’ moments before Trump’s inauguration

You can’t exactly dismiss the timing of the release of the new House of Cards teaser. A tweet with the line saying “We make the terror” shows up with a video of the American flag flying upside down and children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance around 30 minutes before Donald Trump gets inaugurated as America’s president. As you may well know, the U.S. flag isn’t flown upside down unless in times of “dire distress” or danger. We’re not sure how much of the fifth season of this political drama will match reality but it’ll be coming back on May 30.

Apple files US$1 billion lawsuit against Qualcomm

Things are getting ugly between Apple and Qualcomm. Apple filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm this Friday claiming the chip manufacturer charges “excessive royalties” and is withholding payments in retaliation for Apple’s cooperation with South Korean regulators that are investigating Qualcomm. Apple is also accusing the chip supplier of charging an “unfair amount” to license its cellular patents. The tech giant is seeking almost US$1 billion in rebate payments, which have been withheld because of Apple’s cooperation in the investigation against Qualcomm.
