Big data leak hits European football clubs

Unfortunately, nothing is safe from data leaks these days. Professional football (or soccer) is its latest victim. German publication Der Spiegel released a first of possibly a steady stream of stories and details related to corruption happening in different European professional clubs as well as the players involved in the sport. A group called “Football Leaks” got their hands on 1.9 terabytes of data, which covers 18.6 million documents that include secret agreements between clubs and players.

The first story Der Spiegel broke is about how football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Özil have been taking advantage of different tax laws to make a lot of money. It’s not news for the industry as Lionel Messi was recently convicted of tax fraud. But this just goes to show there are possibly more controversial stories coming out of the leak.

Microsoft to boost accessibility features in Windows 10 in upcoming update

Microsoft is hoping to give people with disabilities better access to its operating system with the upcoming Creators Update features. Some of the new things coming next year include support for braille and new voices for text-to-speech feature. Aside from that, Narrator will reduce volume of other apps only when it’s speaking, Cortana won’t transcribe what Narrator is speaking, and it also has better support for Edge browser—making it easier to fill out forms and navigate by heading level.

Even Office 365 will make it “easy to insert alternative text descriptions for images and meaningful display names for hyperlinks, as well as making the accessibility checker available in more Office applications." There are much more outlined in this post by Microsoft if you want to check out what else they have planned.
