Asus tipped to unveil selfie-centric smartphone at Computex

Computex event in Taiwan is creeping up on us and it seems Asus has plans to put in an entry in the selfie-centric smartphone category (this is somewhat a thing now). According to a teaser on Asus’s Facebook page, the new Zenfone “will illuminate the beauty that’s in you through the front camera.” Rumours are going around that it’ll be named, Asus Zenfone Selfie. It just doesn’t get as straightforward as that if it goes with that name. It’ll reportedly have a 13-megapixel front camera and have dual-LED flash for low-light conditions. We just have to wait a few more days to see if this is actually a thing.

Google solar-powered plane crashed in New Mexico

Google’s solar-powered plane didn’t stay up too long in the air as it crashed a bit after takeoff. According to Bloomberg Business, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating this incident. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident, which happened on May 1st at a private airfield outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Titan Aerospace, Google’s recently acquired company, built the 50-meter-wide drone. It’s part of the tech giant’s plan to boost global Internet connectivity using stratospheric drones. Google spokeswoman Courtney Hohne told Bloomberg, "Although our prototype plane went down during a recent test, we remain optimistic about the potential of solar-powered planes to help deliver connectivity."

Shoot from the hip with COVR iPhone 6 case

Shooting from the hip takes on a new meaning with the COVR Photo Camera-Lens Case for iPhone 6 case. This accessory is a Kickstarter project for veteran photojournalist Thomas Hurst, who aims to help smartphone photographers take more candid, natural shots. Although, admittedly its design also makes it seem the perfect tool for taking more surreptitious shots. The COVR case comes with a high-quality prism lens that you slide over the camera. You can snap photos easily with your phone down, looking like you’re just tinkering with your phone.

COVR is aiming to raise US$25,000 on Kickstarter. A $55 pledge will get you cover for the iPhone 6 and $75 will get you the case as well as a portfolio print signed by Hurst.
