HP launches Spectre XT Ultrabook, starts at $999

In order to celebrate the launch of the Spectre XT Ultrabook, HP Canada held a Wine Pairing event yesterday at the well hidden VIntage Conservatory at 100 Lombard St.,Toronto. The new Spectre is a slimmed down version of the original Spectre. That first Spectre was suited top to bottom in Gorilla Glass but the Spectre XT, which retails for a $999 starting price, is mostly aluminum. Sporting Intel Core i5 processors, an 8-hour battery life and as thin as 14.5 mm and starting at only 3.07 lbs, it is one of the more portable Ultrabooks we've seen to date.

Facebook updates iOS app, boosts speed and features

Microsoft reveals new logo and branding

Microsoft has revealed its new logo and branding in advance of some heavy product launches in the coming months. The back-to-basics logo and simpliied font seems to mirror the look and feel of the new Windows 8 interface which borrows heavily from Windows Phone (or the user interface previously known as Metro).

Google Street View goes to the Arctic

On August 22nd and 23rd, the Google Street View team is traveling above Canada's Arctic circle to the remote Inuit hamlet of Cambridge Bay. It is Google's first visit to the Canadian territory of Nunavut. Working closely with the community of Cambridge Bay and members of the Nunavut government, the goal of this project is to share with a global online audience the beauty of Canada’s Arctic and the culture of the Inuit people who live there.
