Microsoft releases Xbox Cloud Gaming update on iOS to reduce input lag

Source: Microsoft

Microsoft has brought its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to iOS back in June. But since it can only offer the service through Safari instead of a dedicated app, the experience isn't up to par with those on other platforms. And that's why Microsoft introduced a series of enhancements to improve overall performance for the iPhone and iPad. It optimized video output and network data transmission on iOS devices and found a way to reduce overall input lag. The latter will particularly be noticeable.

It seems to be the best workaround Microsoft can offer right now, short of releasing a dedicated app. The company is restricted by Apple's policies on game streaming apps, so it had to bring the service through the web browser.

Google will let G Suite/Workspace users draft emails in Docs

If you'd prefer to compose your carefully worded email outside of Gmail, Google will offer an update to Google Docs for Workspace and legacy G Suite users to allow collaboration on Gmail drafts. You don't even have to memorize recipients' email addresses, as you can mention people by name there.

To access the feature, you just need to head to Insert > Building Blocks > Email draft. When you're ready to send, simply click a button to open a Gmail compose window and have the finalized message transferred there. Docs will even automatically populate the relevant fields. The feature will take around 15 days to reach companies on Rapid Release domains, while the more cautious Scheduled Release users will get it on March 22. It is unclear if Google will bring the feature to personal Gmail users.

Twitter reverses decision to introduce tabbed timeline

People weren't happy with Twitter experimenting with an algorithmically-generated feed. The company planned to introduce a new tabbed interface that switches between the algorithmically-generated Home feed and the reverse-chronological Latest feed. Twitter rolled out this feature as a default for iOS users first, with plans to bring it to Android and the web after. But those who got the feature complained about how it defaulted to the Home feed every time they opened the app.

Twitter said, "We heard you." And it decided to roll back the feature as the company "explore(s) other options." As Engadget pointed out, it seems many people online don't take too kindly to tech companies messing with the chronological feed. It somehow makes even more sense on Twitter, given it's a platform where many users get first-hand accounts and information on breaking news. So, an algorithm-based feed would make it challenging to access real-time information or reports.
