Aston Martin's new standard bearer turns it up to 11


"This is not only the most important car that Aston Martin has launched in recent history, but also in its 103-year existence," CEO Andy Palmer said in a statement. "The DB11 rightfully places Aston Martin once again as a leading brand in the luxury automotive market."

Revealed at the Geneva Auto Show was the Aston Martin DB11, a successor to the DB9 and a realized step up and production version of James Bond's bespoke SPECTRE DB10, the DB11 blasts Aston Martin into a new era of motor production with a 600 horsepower 5.3 litre twin-turbo V12.

Being an Aston Martin, one can expect the usual use of exemplar materials and tailor-made interior plus the latest technologies, conveniences and innovations including a Daimler-supplied infotainment system. Owned by Ford for the last decade, Aston Martin is attempting to push forward in the crowded luxury sports and touring space where it built its reputation. The company is promising other vehicles as well, including an SUV and an electricified vehicle. Many carmarkers are making similar invenstments into the future and tapping popular market segement, but Aston Martin will remain to put its focus in what it does best, which is iconic motoring statements like this new DB11.

The DB11 can reach 200 MPH and has a 0-62 acceleration of 3.9 seconds, the company's designers and engineers spent three years to create the car from the ground up.
