Fitbit unveils new Charge 5, costs CA$230

Fitbit's newest wearable is here, and the company calls the Charge 5 its "most advanced health and fitness tracker" yet. It's equipped with a brighter, colour touchscreen and up to seven days of battery life, along with six months of Fitbit Premium for free.

The Charge 5 is Fitbit's first tracker to get an EDA sensor, which measures your body's response to stress through tiny changes in the sweat glands on your fingers. Fitbit first introduced the EDA sensor in the Fitbit Sense smartwatch.

To help you manage your stress, this tracker will also show you a Stress Management Score in the Fitbit app, so you'll be ready to take on your day. The Google-owned brand also launched a new partnership with Calm, which would bring content from the sleep and meditation app to Fitbit Premium users. Fitbit's new Daily Readiness Score will be available on the Charge 5, too.

Fitbit plans to bring the ECG app to Charge 5, which will allow this tracker to monitor your heart rhythm. It can already track your heart rate 24/7. It also has access to your Health Metrics dashboard and sleep tools like daily Sleep Score. Premium members can track long-term trends and personal ranges along with a more comprehensive analysis of your sleep.

Since this is a fitness tracker, it also has built-in GPS, 20 exercise modes, automatic exercise recognition, and an estimate of your V02 max.

This tracker works as a smart device, too. You can easily view your stats, make contactless payments, receive and send notifications to and from your smartphone. Android users get access to quicky reply, too. This is Fitbit's first tracker with an always-on display option.

There are 20 clock faces to choose from to customize the Charge 5 to your liking. You can also switch up your look at any time, choosing from lightweight silicone infinity bands, breathable sport bands, plush nylon hook and loop bands, and hand-crafted premium Horween leather bands.

The Fitbit Charge 5 is available for $229.95, and it's available for pre-order online starting today at fitbit.com and select global retailers. It'll be released worldwide this fall.
