Naughty Dog reveals 'The Last of Us Part II Remastered' with new mode and features

Naughty Dog has confirmed the rumours and revealed The Last of Us Part II Remastered for the PlayStation 5, coming out on January 19, 2024. The remastered version will feature a new roguelike survival mode, a guitar free play mode, developer commentary, and more.

The new mode called No Return will challenge players to survive randomized encounters with different enemies and environmental factors. You can play as new characters and experience the game’s combat in a new way.

The remastered version will also take advantage of the PS5’s hardware and features, such as native 4K output in fidelity mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K when in performance mode, and if you are using a TV that supports VRR. It also gets improved loading times and DualSense support. You will be able to enjoy the game’s stunning visuals and immersive gameplay with enhanced performance and resolution.

If you are a fan of the game’s music and story, you will also appreciate the new guitar free play mode, where you can unlock and play various instruments. You will also be able to access some of the levels cut from the original game and listen to the developers’ commentary on them. Additionally, you can try the speed run mode and see how fast you can complete the game.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will cost US$10 (around CA$14) for those who already own the PS4 version of the game. You can also transfer your saved data from the PS4 to the PS5 and continue your journey.
