Meet the CineBeam Qube: LG’s new compact and minimalist 4K laser projector

LG’s new CineBeam Qube (model HU710PB) is a compact and minimalist laser projector that can fit in your palm. It weighs only 3.28 pounds and measures 135mm by 135mm by 80mm. It has a 360-degree rotatable handle for easy portability and LG claims it is one of the smallest projectors on the market.

The Qube can project 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) images up to 120 inches in size with a 1.2 throw ratio. It has an RGB laser light source that delivers a 450,000:1 contrast ratio and 154 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. It also features LG webOS 6.0, an image-mapping function, and an automatic brightness adjustment algorithm. It has HDMI eARC, USB-C ports, and a 3W built-in mono speaker.

However, the Qube has some limitations. It only produces 500 ANSI lumens of brightness, which means it may not support HDR 10 well in bright environments. It also uses LG webOS, which may not have as many apps and features as Google TV or Apple’s tvOS.

The Qube is a quirky and stylish device that may appeal to some users who value design and convenience over performance and functionality. It resembles a mix of a retro camera and a futuristic cube. LG has not revealed the price or the release date of the Qube, nor has it confirmed if it will support other LG projector features like AirPlay 2 or smart voice control. LG does plan to have it on display at its CES 2024 booth.
