Samsung Galaxy Ring: Your smart kitchen assistant (maybe)

Photo: Samsung

We got a glimpse of the Galaxy Ring at MWC 2024, but details were scarce. Now, a leaked feature hints at its potential: personalized meal planning. Korean reports suggest Samsung is teaming up its Mobile eXperience division with the Home Appliance department to connect the Galaxy Ring with Samsung Food. This could translate to the ring tracking your daily activity and Samsung Food, linked with a smart Samsung fridge using AI image recognition, recommending meals based on your calorie burn and BMI.

Imagine a futuristic kitchen where your Samsung oven automatically adjusts cooking based on the recipe, and your fridge can order missing ingredients through Samsung e-Food center. Sounds amazing, right?

There's a catch (besides limited regional availability for some producess and services). Most of these appliances are on the pricey side. However, if this feature takes off, it might inspire a domino effect, pushing other companies to innovate in smart kitchen tech.

The good news: Samsung Food, the app powering this potential meal planning, is already available in 104 countries. Formerly known as Whisk, the biggest recipe-sharing network before Samsung acquired it in 2019, Samsung Food might offer personalized meal plans when the Galaxy Ring launches later this year (if rumours hold true).
