Gemini for Home comes to early users in Canada

Google Home users who opted for early access to features are getting a taste of Gemini for Home. And that gives them access to experimental features, including one that monitors the activities of your pets. The feature is currently limited to doorbells and cameras and available for users in Canada, the US, the UK, New Zealand, and Ireland.

Some features will be paywalled. However, the aforementioned pet monitoring feature seems to be free as part of the new Ask Home feature. It allows you to use natural language queries to check on what your devices are reporting and offer summaries of captured videos with details added by artificial intelligence analysis. Of course, as part of an early access program, bugs are to be expected.

As TechRadar reported, one Reddit user asked if their dog was "doing anything bad" and it reported that a black dog jumped on the counter at a specific time. It shows one of the things that Gemini can look up for you. The publication also noted that Gemini capabilities extend to Home Briefing as well, with the AI-powered assistant capable of recognizing school buses passing by and concluding that it must be school pick-up time, as well as summarizing when other passing vehicles, people, and even squirrels passed.
