Samsung is reportedly nearing a comprehensive deal with Perplexity to add its artificial intelligence-powered search technology into Samsung devices, in a move that may help reduce its reliance on Google's services.

The companies are rumoured to be in private, active discussions to preload Perplexity's app and assistant on upcoming devices and add its search features to Samsung's web browser, Bloomberg reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

They are also reportedly discussing the possibility of integrating Perplexity's technology into Samsung's Bixby assistant, with plans to announce the integrations as early as 2025. Sources claim the companies are aiming to make Perplexity's service the default assistant option in the Samsung Galaxy S26, which is expected to launch in the first half of 2026.

Bloomberg noted that Samsung is anticipated to be one of the biggest investors in a new funding round, which is reportedly aiming to raise US$500 million at a US$14 billion valuation.
