Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra launches with innovative 'Privacy Display' technology

Samsung Electronics officially announced the Galaxy S26 series, its third generation of AI-integrated smartphones. The lineup—comprising the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra—is built around a "proactive and adaptive" Galaxy AI designed to automate daily tasks. A standout hardware innovation is the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display. This world-first built-in technology limits side-angle visibility at the pixel level to protect sensitive on-screen information from onlookers without the need for physical screen protectors.

The flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra is also powered by the custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, delivering a 39% boost in NPU performance to support "always-on" AI features. This hardware leap enables new "agentic" experiences, such as Now Nudge and Now Brief, which offer contextual suggestions, like surfacing travel photos when a friend requests them or automatically checking calendar conflicts. The Ultra model also features a redesigned thermal management system and Super Fast Charging 3.0, capable of reaching a 75% charge in just 30 minutes.

On the creative front, the series introduces the Photo Assist suite, allowing users to edit images using natural language prompts—such as changing a scene from day to night or digitally "cleaning" spills on clothing. For video enthusiasts, the S26 Ultra adds a wider camera aperture for superior low-light performance and becomes the first Galaxy device to support APV, a professional-grade video codec.

If you want a quick rundown of the phone's specs, you can check that out below.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be available for pre-order starting February 25. In Canada, pricing begins at $1,249.99 for the Galaxy S26, $1,529.99 for the S26+, and $1,899.99 for the S26 Ultra. The devices come in a variety of colours, including Cobalt Violet, Sky Blue, and Samsung.com-exclusive shades like Pink Gold and Silver Shadow.
