Samsung SmartThings now supports IKEA's Matter products

Source: Samsung

Samsung is expanding its SmartThings connectivity platform to support many of IKEA's Matter-over-Thread devices. These products include smart lights, remote controls, smart plugs and air quality sensors. The integration will allow control of these devices via a smart assistant or even set up home automation routines, which is supported by the SmartThings platform.

According to Samsung, it developed "enhanced integrations" for the IKEA devices, with both companies doing "multiple rounds of validation to enhance connectivity stability and implemented a dedicated user experience within the SmartThings app for full compatibility."

Essentially, that should translate to a plug-and-play experience. However, as Engadget pointed out, Matter should already offer this experience, even without Samsung's help. They noted customers having trouble getting the company's Matter-supported products to networks. Hopefully, this Samsung integration would be as "seamless" as they claim.
