Google launches new Android-powered Googlebook laptops

Google has officially announced Googlebook, a new laptop category designed to bridge the gap between desktop performance and mobile convenience. Built on the Android technology stack and ChromeOS foundations, the new lineup is engineered from the ground up to deliver deep phone-to-laptop continuity and native AI integration.

Designed around Gemini Intelligence, Googlebooks feature dedicated hardware AI capabilities and smart software tools like Magic Pointer for contextual screen assistance, Rambler for voice-to-structured-text conversion, and Create My Widget for custom desktop setups. The devices also sport the exterior Glowbar indicator for battery status and Gemini interactions.

The initial hardware lineup features flagship models from major partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Built with premium materials like carbon fibre and magnesium alloy, the laptops boast up to 2.8K OLED displays, haptic glass trackpads, and latest-gen Intel or Qualcomm processors equipped with dedicated NPUs (delivering over 40–45 TOPS) for up to 14 hours of battery life.

To make mobile transition effortless, Googlebook integrates deep Android companion features like Continue On, cross-device file access without manual transfers, and Cast My Apps to run phone software directly in desktop windows. Users also get access to desktop Chrome, optimized Android apps, professional creative suites like Adobe Photoshop, and a full, isolated Linux developer terminal.

Pre-orders for Googlebook are now open through select retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, Staples, and Costco, with devices hitting store shelves in Canada on October 5. Pricing starts at $1,299, and every purchase includes a 12-month Gemini Spark subscription, three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop, and a complimentary one-year pass to NVIDIA GeForce NOW for AAA gaming.
