Analyst believes regular iPhone 12 will be series' bestseller

Four new iPhones are expected to launch at the upcoming Apple "Hi, Speed" event, and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the second cheapest option, the regular iPhone 12, will sell the most at launch. It'll supposedly garner 40% of the iPhone 12 series' total shipments, while the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max will each get 20%.

While you might think the cheapest variant will earn the company the most, Kuo believes its smaller size might not have as broad an appeal as the rumoured 6.1-inch display on the regular iPhone 12. This model is expected to cost around US$799 (around CA$1,048), which is US$100 (CA$131) more expensive than the mini. It's believed the new iPhones won't sell as well when compared with the iPhone 11 because of its later launch and the effect of COVID-9 on the economy.

Huawei will launch Mate 40 series on Oct. 22

Huawei's Mate flagship is getting an update with a scheduled launch for the Mate 40 series on October 22. It's the latest Huawei device to launch without access to the Google Play Store and Google Mobile Services. It also might be the last Huawei handset to be powered by a Kirin processor. US trade restrictions and bans have severely affected the Android experience on these handsets. But Huawei has been steadily developing its AppGallery to make up for that. It might not be enough for some users who are expecting the full access to Android and Google apps.

The company hasn't revealed much beyond the tagline "Leap Further Ahead." So, we're going to have to wait and see what Huawei is cooking up to try and convince smartphone buyers to consider their new flagship.

Google Meet adds breakout rooms to allow smaller group discussions

Source: Google

Online classes with tons of students can be overwhelming for both the learners and the teachers, especially when you want to encourage interaction. Google hopes to help out by rolling out breakout rooms for its Meet app. It's rolling out first to Enterprise for Education customers, but it will be available to more users later this year. This highly requested feature will let educators divide participants into smaller groups. Moderators can create up to 100 breakout rooms, with participants randomly and evenly distributed across rooms. But the organizers can move participants around manually, too. Teachers and moderators can jump from one breakout room to another to supervise or join discussions.
