Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 comes in 13- and 15-inch sizes

At its recent event, one of the new devices Microsoft announced is its refreshed Surface Laptop 3, which now comes in two screen sizes: 13.5-inch and 15-inch models. It also comes in either tone-on-tone Alcantara or the new machined aluminum all-metal finish. The 13-inch model has been updated to run on 10th-generation Intel Core processors, while the 15-inch option runs on new AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors. 

These laptops offer a full 1.33mm key travel and a 20-percent bigger glass trackpad with both USB-A and USB-C ports. The Surface Laptop 3 provides fast-charging, too, with the ability to charge from zero to 80 percent in an hour. The front camera has been improved, and it comes with OmniSonic speakers and dual far-field Studio Mics for excellent audio quality. Pricing starts at US$999 (around CA$1,330) for the 13-inch model and $1,199 (around $1,600) for the 15-inch version.

Monitor your Telus Peace of Mind plans with new iOS app update

If you have a Telus Peace of Mind plan and use an iPhone, it'll be easier to monitor your data use now. The iOS app has been updated to shows your data use, so you'll know when you've used up your high-speed data and are about to enter throttled speeds. Speeds are throttled to 512Kbps when you've exceeded your data limit. It's still usable for messaging and browsing emails, but you won't be able to stream video without interruptions.

Metro Toronto Convention Centre to test AI and Radar Imaging security technology

Large scale arenas and convention centres are hubs for consumer and trade activity. The Metro Toronto Convetion centre is a convention complex located downtown Toronto. It is one of the largest Canadian convention centres with over 65,000m² (700,000 SF) of space, including the 1,232-seat John Bassett Theatre. The facility also connects to the 586-room InterContinental Toronto Centre hotel, the Union Station railway along with the SkyWalk, and to the underground PATH system.

Over the past 35 years, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) has hosted over 21,000 events and has added $7.8 billion in direct spending economic impact to the community. MTCC will be the first convention centre to partner with Liberty Detection, a leading concealed weapons detection solutions company, recently announced that it has signed a collaborative agreement with MTCC to beta test HEXWAVE.

Microsoft introduces smart, wireless Surface Earbuds

Everyone seems to have ridden the wireless, smart earbuds train. The latest to join the trend is Microsoft with the Surface Earbuds. The large, disc-shaped Earbuds are designed to fit comfortably and to work with the natural shape of the human ear. Instead of having the usual circular plastic dome, it's more oval, so it can rest on two points of the ear. 

On top of having a better fit, audio is improved with what Microsoft calls "rich, immersive Omnisonic sound." There doesn't seem to be noise cancellation here, though.
