Review: Amazon Kindle Oasis

I brought the newest version of the Amazon Kindle Oasis (3rd generation) on my most recent getaway. A family member had questioned why I would bring another device when I could bring my phone and pretty much do everything on it. While I can add the Kindle app onto my iPhone and take it on the go, the truth is, I like to separate my enjoyment of reading from any tasks I do on my phone. This also means I less distractions and I can stay more focused on the book. I'm too easily tempted to check my emails or Instagram or Telegram on a whim. There. I admit it. Houston, we have a problem, that's a post for another time.

Gmail will alert and sometimes correct your grammatical errors

The days of sending grammatically questionable emails might be over. Or at least, you're getting extra help from Gmail. Similar to what Google has done with Docs, Gmail will let you know if you've made grammatical errors and underline these in blue. You can right-click those words to see the suggestions on how to fix them. And if you make "common spelling mistakes," then Gmail will automatically correct those for you. This new feature is coming first to G Suite accounts by mid-September. We don't know when it's coming to regular Gmail users, but you can expect this to make its way soon.

New leak suggests the Motorola Razr will have mid-range specs but premium price tag

Maybe you want to be one of the first to own a reimagined version of the Motorola Razr. Well, you're going to have to pay for it. This rumoured foldable device will reportedly have a hefty US$1,500 price tag. According to "verified information" LetsGoDigital got from an anonymous source, the redesigned Motorola Razr is coming soon. And it could come to the U.S. in just a "few months." The phone modernizes the clamshell design with this rumoured foldable display hidden inside. The dimensions of the phone aren't known yet, but recent renders did show that we can expect a small second screen on the outside for notifications.

According to the report, the premium price tag doesn't seem to match the specs of the phone. It will reportedly not come with a high-end processor, and it'll supposedly have a "smaller battery" than other foldable phones. It seems Motorola wants to bank on the nostalgia of the form factor. But we aren't sure if that would make people want to shell out that much money. The report suggests that there will be a European launch after the U.S. debut that could take place between December 2019 and January 2020. If there's any truth to this report, then we might be seeing the phone this fall.

Facebook takes out chat function in Facebook Groups

Facebook introduced direct messaging or chats within Facebook Groups last year. But now the company is taking out this feature. The chat function created within Facebook Groups will become unavailable starting August 22nd. The existing messages created there will become read-only. You can search for these threads within the Messenger app, but you will not be able to add anything else or anyone within these particular chat windows. Facebook says it's exploring new ways for group members to communicate in real-time. The shut-down, however, does not affect group messaging or group chats within the Messenger app.
