YouTube will let you try on makeup while watching tutorials with the help of AR

It isn’t exactly a secret that beauty bloggers on YouTube have large followings, and these creators sometimes even debut new products from some of the biggest makeup brands in the world. And that’s why Google is taking advantage of this with its new AR Beauty Try-On feature. It’ll let YouTube viewers virtually try on makeup they see while watching reviews and tutorials for products. MAC Cosmetics has signed on to bring this feature to life. It’s currently in the alpha stage and available through Google’s in-house branded content platform, FameBit.

As a viewer, this feature will create a split screen scenario on your smartphone. The top half will play the YouTube video, while the bottom half will launch your front-facing camera to capture you. AR filters will help you apply virtual makeup samples. Machine learning helped this tool work on a full range of skin tones, and Google has demoed it with several beauty brands. It was found that 30 percent of viewers activated the AR experience in the YouTube iOS app and spent an average of 80 seconds trying on virtual lipstick. It’ll be interesting to see what other brands will follow suit and implement this feature.

With the film being named the highest-grossing superhero origin film of all time, it doesn’t come as a surprise that a sequel is planned. And now we know Tom Hardy will be making a comeback. Producer Amy Pascal, who helps oversee the Spider-Man franchise for Sony, confirmed with Fandango that Hardy is onboard for Venom 2 when the film gets made. "I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can," said Pascal.

As for the possibility of seeing a Spider-Man and Venom crossover, Marvel’s boss Kevin Feige told CinemaBlend, that this decision is “up to Sony” but “it seems like at some point” to happen. We’d definitely want to see that happen. As for when we might expect to see Venom 2, Pascal can’t give a date yet as there is “no time table” to get it in production.

There won’t be a Galaxy Note 10 Tesla Edition

A render made its rounds on the internet recently that suggested Samsung was working with Tesla for a special edition version of the upcoming Galaxy Note 10. Unfortunately, that was just a render created by YouTuber Arun Maini on Twitter. It made its rounds on the Chinese blogging platform Weibo that suggested we were getting a “Galaxy Note 10 Tesla Edition.” It seemed plausible because a lot of phone makers have been partnering with luxury brands to release special edition models of their devices. You have Huawei with Porsche Design and OnePlus with McLaren, to name a few.

While this rumour has been squashed, what is happening soon though is the launch of the Galaxy Note 10. It’s reportedly happening on August 7, with two versions of the phablet being introduced.
