Possible new Samsung devices get leaked in a new video

Samsung’s Unpacked event is just a few weeks away, and as expected the leaks just keep coming in. This time, we get a leaked video from Samsung Vietnam that shows what the rumoured Galaxy F foldable phone and other innovations we might expect from the company. The video shows us an all-screen tablet that comes with stylus input, a take on the foldable phone, a giant digital display that has a Minority Report-like interface, a portable ultrasound device, and what looks like the Galaxy S10 Lite phone with advanced AR features. Whether any of these are actual products or just renders or concepts remain to be seen. For now, we have to wait until more leaks drop or we wait for the actual event happening on February 20th.

Snopes is no longer part of Facebook’s fact-checking program

Snopes is looking beyond the walls of Facebook’s fact-checking initiative and its funding to serve the larger online community. Facebook began this program at the end of 2016—after the US presidential election and Russia’s reported meddling on social media came into focus—with the goal of battling misinformation on its platform. With data taken from its fact-checking partners—like Snopes, The Associated Press, PolitiFact, and ABC News, to name a few—Facebook would try to let you know about false or questionable “news” items showing up on your feed.

Now, Snopes announced it wasn’t renewing its contract with Facebook. The organization said it is “evaluating the ramifications and costs of providing third-party fact-checking services, and we want to determine with certainty that our efforts to aid any particular platform are a net positive for our online community, publication, and staff.”

Facebook finally optimizes apps for iPhone XS Max, XR, and iPad Pros

It’s taken them a few months but it’s finally here. Facebook has updated its iOS apps to support the higher resolutions of the bigger iPhone XS Max and XR as well as the newest 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. The iPhone versions now run at their native resolutions, instead of having to use a scaled up version of the iPhone XS app. For the iPad version, the black bars that the app used to show are now gone. But as The Verge notes, the usable space of the app is still the same on the iPad.

Energizer to launch 26 phones at MWC 2019

Having one phone would surprise us enough but Energizer has decided it wants more—they want 26 new phones, in fact. The battery manufacturer is getting into the smartphone game with features like pop-up cameras, a massive 18,000mAh battery, and foldable displays. No, these all won’t be in one phone. According to 9to5Google, Energizer will be releasing four separate lines: Power Max, Ultimate, Energy, and Hardcase. Most of the 26 phones will be part of the Energy and Hardcase lines, which, as you can expect, will be feature phones. The Power Max line will have the 18,000mAh model, while the Ultimate line will get things like the pop-up camera, and teardrop notch displays.

Reports claim that two of the devices part of the Ultimate line are the more premium devices. The Energizer Ultimate U620S Pop and U630S Pop will run on P70 and P22 MediaTek Helio processors, respectively. Both come with motorized dual cameras. The U630S Pop has 16-megapixel main camera with a 2-megapixel depth sensor, while the U620S Pop gets a triple camera setup, with the two other sensors joined by a 5-megapixel shooter. The US630S has a 4GB RAM/64GB storage configuration, while the U620S gets 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The former comes out in June, while the latter comes out in July. We’re going to have to wait until the end of the month to find out what the other phones are going to be. MWC kicks off on February 25 in Barcelona.
