Nokia 3210 gets a modern makeover

Photo: HMD

The iconic Nokia 3210 gets a modern makeover in 2024! While it shares the name of its 1999 predecessor, this new 3210 boasts a design more akin to the recently released Nokia 6310. The phone packs a compact 2.4-inch TFT LCD and a basic 2-megapixel rear camera with flash. It runs the S30+ operating system with support for Cloud Apps, keeping things simple yet functional.

Under the hood, a Unisoc T107 chipset handles processing, paired with 64MB RAM and 128MB of storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD. Modern connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.0, while a 3.5mm headphone jack lets you enjoy your favourite tunes. The FM radio is another welcome feature for those who prefer traditional broadcasting.

This Nokia feature phone has a hidden charger for earbuds

Source: HMD

Among the new feature phones that HMD recently announced, this new Nokia one offers a hidden charging compartment for included earbuds. The Nokia 5710 XpressAudio has a typical candy bar-style feature phone look in front, but you get a charging compartment on the back hidden when you slide down the plastic cover. It certainly makes it easier to pack away earbuds. These buds offer up to four hours of music playback per charge or around 2.4 hours of talk time. It doesn't look like the phone will have trouble recharging the device. According to HMD, the removable 1,450mAh battery gets you up to six hours of talk time over 4G and up to 20 days of standby with two 4G SIM card support.

Since this is a feature phone, you shouldn't expect access to services like Spotify and Apple Music. The Nokia 5710 XpressAudio runs on a stripped-back Series 30 Plus operating system. That means you can only play back MP3s or listen through the built-in FM radio. It is coming to the UK for £74.99 (around CA$116) later this month.

Nokia launches hole-punch display-toting X71

Nokia is taking on the hole-punch display trend with its newest Android One phone. The brand’s licensee HMD Global just launched in Taiwan the X71. Aside from the new 6.39-inch display, the X71 is a camera-centric phone with a Zeiss-branded triple-camera system. It has a 48-megapixel main sensor, 8-megapixel wide sensor, and 5-megapixel depth sensor. The hole-punch houses a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. It runs on a Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 3,500mAh battery.

It’s priced at around US$385 (around CA$510) and pits it against the $490 Huawei Nova 4 and $203 Redmi Note 7 Pro, which both carry the same Sony 48-megapixel sensor. It’s rumoured to be getting a global release under the name Nokia 8.1 Plus.
