Google Maps’ business reviews now support hashtags

Embed from Getty Images

Google Maps might make discovery of new places or businesses to visit that much easier. The Android version of the app now lets users who leave reviews on establishments add hashtags to their writeups. Google suggests these hashtags be added at the end of their posts and they can add up to five hashtags. These hashtags will help those who tap on them find other establishments using the same tag. But they request reviewers to be specific about the hashtags they use like #vegetarian #goodforselfies, instead of using the more generic #food. It rolled out first to Android devices last week, but there is no word yet when it’s coming to iOS or the web versions of the app.

Bethesda reportedly rescinds its ‘Fallout 76’ PC refunds

Late last week, there were reports that Bethesda was offering refunds to PC players of Fallout 76 for those who cited problems like performance issues. But new developments suggest this might not be happening. A recent post from Reddit user ZPKane suggests there was a refund offered before but the company has since rescinded the offer. ZPKane first got an email from Bethesda when he voiced his displeasure about the game’s performance saying they couldn’t process the refund at the moment, but they will get back to him when they can. While waiting for the refund to push through, he got another email saying that the downloaded game isn’t eligible for a refund.

While doing research on the issue, Spiel Times found Bethesda’s refund policy which states, “If you want to download digital content within the 30-day cancelation period, you must agree to waive your cancelation rights.” So, for now this might be the reason why the refunds aren’t pushing through. Bethesda hasn’t released a comment on the matter just yet.

Microsoft briefly surpasses Apple to become most valuable US company

Microsoft beat Apple and became the world's most valuable company. The software and cloud giant hit a new valuation peak as shares rose by 2.1% on Monday, with Apple’s shares falling by 0.7%. We're now living in a time where big tech companies hitting a trillion dollar market caps will become commonplace. Microsoft has long been on that trajectory.

Apple celebrated the trillion dollar highlight in August but has since faced a dip in share prices, apparently due to flagging iPhone sales.

Newest Amazon Echo Show is handy for real life

By Sonya Davidson

We are inundated with devices all year round. Devices that can entertain, keep us organize, keep our homes in check and keep us connected with our friends and family. We keep them in our pockets like umbilical cords. Can’t live without them. I know. I’m down deep in that rabbit hole too. But I am someone who embraces technology when it can make my life easier, better, and smarter.

As the consumer and end user, I want to know what a device does and how it works. The latest addition to my home is the Amazon Echo Show (second generation). Think of it as your virtual assistant with Alexa at the helm ready and waiting to make your day. We have the device sitting prominently on the kitchen counter - yes, high traffic area. Why? Because when I first saw the device at a preview event I was already loving the design and quality of sound. I knew it would serve its best purpose in a high traffic area in my home. The kitchen, and main floor area, is where I spend 90% of my time when I’m home. It made sense. I usually have music playing in the background while I work, cook or entertain. Echo Show does more than that, so let’s break down what I love most about this device.
