Samsung starts mass production of cheaper 4TB SSDs

When Samsung unveiled its 4TB solid state drives a couple of years back, these weren’t exactly the cheapest products at US$1,499. Now, with the company’s new 4-bit 4TB QLC SSDs, the company promises these would be more affordable alternatives. The new storage chips allow these drives to have the same 540MBps read and 520MBps write speeds of Samsung’s existing SATA SSD drives, making these enticing products for those who need more space. Samsung even throws in three-year warranty for them. The first drives are expected to come out later this year.

Aside from developing new SSDs, Samsung is also using this same technology “to efficiently produce a 128GB memory card for smartphones that will lead the charge toward higher capacities for high-performance memory storage.” So, if you feel like your smartphone is lacking some extra space, these might be worth keeping an eye out for.

Marvel movies will stop coming to Netflix starting with ‘Captain Marvel’

The days of Marvel movies on Netflix are numbered. When Captain Marvel gets released next year, that will be the first Marvel Studios film to be offered exclusively through Disney’s upcoming streaming service. Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the last Marvel Cinematic Universe film to come to the service. As for the Marvel Netfix shows, these don’t seem to be going anywhere just yet. A Disney spokeswoman told The New York Times that there are “no current plans” to move these shows off Netflix.

This move is not surprising at all since Disney has long wanted to contend with Netflix and has even pulled out key Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar movies from the streaming network. Netflix is hoping that its huge investment in original content can counteract the loss of marquee content from big studios.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S4

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Credit goes to Samsung for persevering in the Android tablet space despite most other makers, even Google, seemingly abandoning the form factor. Now that 10-inch tablets are a thing again and geared towards productivity as much as content consumption, Samsung’s Tab S4 offers a true modern Android tablet experience, but is this enough?

Let’s face it, Android on tablets hasn’t flourished in nearly eight years. There are very few tablet-optimized Android apps. While Android tablets can run thousands of smartphone apps, there’s very little incentive for developers to focus on tablet users.

Fossil brings Google Pay, GPS, and heart-rate tracking to new smartwatches

Fossil just released the fourth-generation of its Fossil Q lineup and offers some features other traditional-looking smartwatches don’t have yet. The new Fossil Q line comes with Google Pay support, heart-rate monitor, and standalone GPS. The Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR are priced between $335 and $365 and come with different band and color options. Some are available for pre-order, while others are on sale already over at Fossil’s site.

The Q Venture HR comes with a 40mm stainless steel casing, while the Explorist HR has a larger 45mm case. And while you get new features, unfortunately, you’re stuck with the two-year-old Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip. If that doesn’t bother you and you still want to try out a Wear OS watch, you can check these out now.
