Apple reports $53.3B revenue record for fiscal 3Q on strength of services segment

Apple just reported that its financial results for its fiscal 2018 third quarter ended June 30, 2018. Apple Inc. posted quarterly revenue of $53.3 billion, an increase of 17 percent from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.34, up 40 percent. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Apple's current market cap is $935 billion. If stock value continues to rise above 7 percent, Apple is on its way to becoming the first trillion-dollar company at a price of US $203.46 per share.

This record revenue was fueled largerly by a whopping 31 per cent increase revenue from services which encompass various Apple Store, iTunes, Apple Pay, AppleCare, licensing and other ecosystem-related plays.

OnePlus will update the two-year-old 3 and 3T with Android P

OnePlus is doing something not a lot of phone manufacturers are doing, bring Android P to the two-year-old OnePlus 3 and 3T. Usually, phones get a two-year cycle for software update, so it was expected that Android Oreo would be the last updates for these phones. But the arrival of Android P on these devices come at a price. One is that these phones won’t get Android 8.1 update to better utilize development resources. Another is it’ll be placed at lowest priority, meaning OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 5 and 5T all get the update first. But for those who wanted to get the newest operating system, these tradeoffs might be worth it.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed ‘Luke Cage’ Season 3 yet

While rumour has it that the writers of Luke Cage are already working on the third season of the show, Netflix hasn’t confirmed its return yet. Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content, said during the Television Critics Association press tour that they “haven’t made any firm decisions yet.” If it does push through, Luke Cage will be the third Marvel and Netflix co-produced show to get a third season (after Daredevil and Jessica Jones). The show has been generally well-received. On review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, its first season earned 94 percent, while its recently-released second season got 84 percent. We wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix decides to give it one more go.

It’s now easier to reschedule meetings on Google Calendar

Do you need to reschedule a meeting? Google Calendar wants to make this an easier affair for you. The app will let you propose alternative times within the app itself. The organizer of the meeting will then have the option to review and accept or reject the new time. The organizer will also be able to see the availability windows of the other attendees, if their calendars are shared with co-workers, that is. Google Calendar will show these shared calendars side-by-side to make it easier to set a new time that can accommodate everyone. Part of this new feature is letting you add an optional message to give the organizer context on why the meeting needs to be rescheduled. The feature is now live on Google Calendar for the web but will come to mobile starting August 13^th. It should also work across domains as well as Microsoft Exchange.
