OxygenOS beta brings Project Treble support to OnePlus 5 and 5T

The latest beta build of OxygenOS brings something OnePlus 5 and 5T users are going to appreciate: support for Google’s Project Treble. If you aren’t familiar with this, Project Treble separates Android’s framework with the vendor’s hardware code implementations. This means handset makers are only going to be in charge of the parts they change in the software, while Google and the companies who provide the processors will be releasing updates on their own. This initiative hopes to help reduce fragmentation in Android. Unfortunately, this isn’t widely adopted yet.

But now for those OnePlus 5 and 5T users, your handsets will soon be compliant with the program. You would, however, need to flash these OxygenOS beta build if you aren’t running the previous version of open beta. And if things work out smoothly, then these phones should get the update in the coming weeks. On top of this, the new update brings with it a new user interface, support for accent colors, and changes to the launcher, phone, and weather apps.

Facebook shuts down three underutilized apps

It’s time to say goodbye to Hello, Moves, and tbh. These three Facebook apps are being shut down because of the lack of enough user interest to keep them going and the company doesn’t want to “spread ourselves too thin” with underutilized apps. Facebook said they will also be deleting user data for all three apps within 90 days.

Fitness tracking app Moves was bought by Facebook back in 2014 but raised privacy concerns because of how the app tracked daily activities. A year later, Facebook introduced Hello, a mobile app the displayed information about incoming phone calls even if the caller’s number isn’t saved on your phone. And then last year, Facebook acquired tbh, which let its users compliment each other by sending anonymous quizzes.

Now, big chunks of the map have been disappearing. señior ox on YouTube was even able to capture the disappearance of a Motel sign while streaming his game. It was completely sucked through one of the strange rifts seen on the map.

These rifts or cracks have been spotted in different places around Fortnite Island so don’t be surprised if you see something strange while you play. Rumour has it the upcoming season will be based around different time periods in history.

Samsung’s foldable phone might get a big curved battery

Samsung hasn’t officially acknowledged its foldable Galaxy X but rumour has it the device will be coming next year and its foldable display panels might be going into mass production this summer—if there aren’t any issues, that is. But, of course, the screen isn’t the only flexible thing in the phone, its other components should be, too. A new report shows what the batteries could look like. It’s supposedly being developed by Samsung SDI and comes in a V shape. Capacity is said to be anywhere between 3,000mAh and 6,000mAh. The expectation or hope is for it to be as high as possible, given that the rumoured device will have a screen that’ll be at 7.3 inches when opened and 4.5 inches when folded. Of course, this could all change but for now, it shows us what we could be getting. Is a foldable phone something you’d want to own?
