YouTube Music gains long-awaited Hum to Search feature

Image: u/Izmir_Stinger / Reddit

Great news for music lovers who struggle to recall song titles! YouTube Music is finally rolling out the "Hum to Search" functionality, similar to the one available in the main YouTube app since October. This feature utilizes artificial intelligence to recognize melodies you hum, sing, or play on another device. On Android, you'll find a dedicated "Song" button next to the search bar for quick access, while iOS users might already have the feature through an earlier update.

While it doesn't automatically save identified songs to a playlist like Spotify, finding that catchy tune you can't remember is now a breeze. This addition brings YouTube Music more in line with its predecessor, Google Play Music, and offers a convenient way to discover music.

Google Meet on desktop gains face touch-up filters

Image: Google

Google Meet's desktop app now has face touch-up filters, letting you slightly adjust your appearance before meetings. This feature, available on mobile since last year, offers two filters: subtle (light smoothing, under-eye lightening) and smoothing (more intense version). Unlike some video apps, Google focuses on natural-looking enhancements.

To enable it, navigate to "Apply visual effects" > "Appearance" in Google Meet. Here, you can turn on "Portrait touch-up" and choose a filter. It is available globally. However, it's only for these specific Google accounts: Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus Education Plus Teaching & Learning Upgrade, Google One, and Google Workspace Individual clients.

Body type ranges are powered by Pinterest's innovative body type technology, which uses sophisticated algorithms to identify diverse body shapes and sizes across billions of images. Pinterest says it is committed to developing artificial intelligence-powered features that empower users, not exploit them.
