Photo: Humane

Humane’s wearable AI Pin is positioning itself as the antidote to smartphone addiction. The company wants to help re-immerse us in the real world instead of being tethered to our screens. Spearheaded by former Apple experts, this innovative concept promises to liberate users from their digital chains. However, the initial investment of US$699 (around CA$944) plus a US$24 (~CA$32) monthly subscription fee presents a significant hurdle for many.

But fear not, early adopters! Humane is showing its appreciation by offering the first three months of the subscription (a US$72/~CA$97 value) for free for those who take the plunge and purchase the AI Pin. This gesture of gratitude extends further with waived shipping fees for all new purchases. And for those who've already invested, rest assured, Humane is committed to ensuring you're taken care of, hinting at possible refunds or reimbursement.

Vision Pro users report mysterious cracks in headsets

Photo: @inphenite / Reddit

Several Vision Pro owners are reporting identical, unexplained cracks appearing on the front glass of their headsets. The issue, first noticed by MacRumors, has been reported by five users on the r/VisionPro subreddit, with Engadget's review unit also experiencing the same problem.

Intriguingly, all reported cracks appear as vertical hairline fractures in the same location above the nose bridge. Affected users claim they took no actions that could explain the damage, such as dropping the device or storing it improperly. One user, @dornbirn, describes polishing the glass, attaching the soft cover, and storing it in the case before discovering the crack the next morning. Other users also report storing their headsets in cases or with the soft cover on.

Threads tests drafts and in-app camera

Image: Meta

Meta is testing some of the “most requested” features for Threads, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri. One of them is the ability to save drafts. Users can swipe down to save a post as a draft and edit it later. The app shows a post icon when there is a draft saved. However, users can only save one draft at a time, and it is unclear if Meta will allow more.

Another feature is an in-app camera. It lets users share photos and videos from their phones without leaving Threads. Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg posted a photo taken with the new camera. Meta said these features are still in early testing and could change a lot before they are widely available.
