Creators that were at the forefront of the early video game revolution are now the focus in a fascinating 10-part documentary web series, The Artists, now streaming on CBC

 The series offers a deep-dive look into the relatively undocumented first three decades of video game history, through the lens of the designers, developers and programmers that lay the groundwork to redefine pop culture as we know it.

The Artists also investigates the intersection of creativity and technology, approaching specific games from this era as one would explore a seminal film. For a massive audience, video games are films of the 21st century, their primary source for storytelling. How did that happen?

Ford to stop producing sedans in US and Canada by 2020

Ford is ceasing production of most of its passenger cars in the US and Canada in favour of SUV's and trucks. The company will stop making and selling the Ford Fiesta, Taurus, Fusion and the regular Focus models and will have these phased out in the coming years.

Ford will continue to make two passenger cars, the Ford Mustang, which is a sports coupe or convertible and the Ford Focus Active, which is a crossover of sorts. A testament to the high demand for SUVs and trucks in North America and the decline of four and five-seater passenger cars and hatchbacks.

Instagram now allows batch uploading for Stories

Instagram wants to make uploading easier for its Stories users with a new feature rolling out for both Android and iOS. The latest app update with let you upload up to 10 photos and/or videos at once from your gallery. Just like with regular Instagram posts, you can edit these individually to add your sticker of choice or any text you might want to add. And these photos and/or videos will be uploaded in the order you choose to upload them. In Instagram Story, the sticker menu now automatically shows suggested relevant locations to make it easier for you to add locations to your posts. This update is currently rolling out so you may or may not have access to it just yet.

Otterbox outs four Marvel-inspired cases ahead of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ opening

 

With Avengers: Infinity War almost upon us, of course we can expect the merchandise to come with it. One of the brands cashing in on the hype is Otterbox. The smartphone accessory maker just released Avengers: Infinity War Symmetry and Defender Series cases for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and iPhone X, and the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. The four new cases include Black Panther, Thanos, Iron Man (which glows in the dark, by the way), and an “Assemble” case that brings all the Avengers on one case.

The iPhone 7 and 8 as well as the Galaxy S9 versions retail for US$45 (approx. CA$58), while the iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus and iPhone X as well as Galaxy S9 Plus go for US$55 (approx. CA$70).
