Microsoft announces Windows 10 April 2018 Update coming to PCs on May 8

Microsoft is announcing that it will make the Windows 10 April 2018 Update available for download on May 8th. The latest update to Windows 10 introduces a Timeline features which makes it possible for users to find files they previously worked on easily.

The new update also has a Focus Assist feature designed to block out distractions and keep workers on track. Dictation has also been improved so users can write notes and even dictate longer documents by speaking. Microsoft Edge browser has also been improved and can automatically mute tabs that autoplay content.

As a Windows Insider, I've been playing around with the latest build and, while not as dramatically different from the Fall Creator's Update, I did notice some improvements and visual flourishes in certain aspects of the OS.

Pinterest can now help you search for images by skin tone

A new feature Pinterest is rolling out in beta will make it easier for you to search for looks you want to achieve. When you filter hair and beauty searches, it can be refined further by skin tone ranges. This new feature comes after the social media platform found that 70 percent of the people who answered its survey used Pinterest to look for everyday looks and styles. It took a bit of work to get this feature right as lighting, shadows, and other factors were needed to be considered when programming its search filters to identify skin tones. Pinterest tapped third-party beauty app ModiFace and its facial data library to train its algorithms to properly identify skin tones in different lighting conditions. The social media platform promises that when users search for skin tones that information will not be stored or be used for advertising purposes. And Pinterest promises to continue developing this feature as well as other more inclusive search options for its users in order for them to get more personalized results.

From the looks of it, it’s going to be exclusively released in India through Amazon. It’s coming on May 17 in the said country. The teaser, aside from showing clips from the movie, shows the OnePlus 6 with its 19:9 display and notch, rounded edges, and a new location for the Alert Slider on the right side of the phone. OnePlus in India is hosting an event for fans, too, for this release. There doesn’t seem to be any indication at the moment that the phone will make its way out of the country.
