Nest Cam IQ gives owners official wall mount for free

If you’ve bought the indoor version of the Nest Cam IQ recently, you might have noticed that the high-end security camera comes with its own wall mount included in the box. The company recently confirmed via an update in its support pages that the camera gets the wall mount and for those who missed out can get one for free. You just need to get in touch with Nest via its website. Those who request one will get it shipped free of charge overnight but limited to one mount per Nest Cam IQ.

The mount is pretty straightforward with two holes on the left and right for screws to help you attach it to the wall. Four screws are included in the package. Its bottom has rubber padding to prevent it from scratching the wall. To attach to the camera itself, you get the standard 1/4"-20 tripod screw. It also comes with four cable clips to help with cable management.

Netflix and F1 to partner for 10-part documentary series on the 2018 season

Get ready to get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest, most elite racing tournaments in the world. Formula One Group just signed a deal with Netflix Originals to produce a ten-part documentary series of the 2018 season to focus on “the intense fight for the heart, soul, and direction for the future of this multibillion-dollar business.” The streaming service is given “unparalleled and exclusive access” to the teams, drivers, paddock, and other key players in F1’s management, which for those who don’t know are currently at odds with teams like Ferrari and Mercedes about the future of the sport. As Sean Bratches, Formula 1’s managing director of Commercial Operations, said about the partnership, “The agreement with Netflix serves to chronicle the fascinating story of what transpires behind the scenes during a Grand Prix season. This is a perspective of the sport that has yet to be unveiled to fans around the world.” We’re sure to get some juicy stuff from this documentary.

The series will air on Netflix in 2019. One of the producers of the series is James Gay Rees, the producer of the award-winning feature-length documentary Senna, which tells the tale of the legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna. The series’ showrunner is Sophie Todd.

YouTube tests new ‘miniplayer-bar’ on the web

One of the new features YouTube is testing out for the web is a new multitasking feature for its web version. Called “miniplayer-bar” in YouTube’s code, the feature is like picture-in-picture in that it’s a floating video panel but this one follows you in a, well, smaller panel on top of the screen as you scroll down to check out the “Up Next” sidebar or read through the comments. Aside from being able to see the video in a smaller screen, the feature also shows things like the video’s title, the thumbs up/down buttons, and the share and subscribe buttons. The application is also similar to how picture-in-picture works on portrait mode when you’re on mobile. There is no word yet when YouTube will release this to more users, but we’ll keep a lookout for this.
