Amazon tipped to be trying to add real-time translation to Alexa

Possibly taking its cues from Google Assistant, Amazon is reportedly trying to turn its Alexa voice assistant into a real-time translator. What would be different this time around is that it won’t just translate phrases but also supposedly include local culture into its responses. Amazon is reportedly looking into making this feature available on multiple devices and it’s hoping to translate multiple conversations at once. It isn’t clear though where Amazon’s translation skills will be coming from. But if this is happening, we should hear about it soon enough.

Instagram tests out audio and video call feature

Looks like Instagram is adding one more feature that pits it up against Snapchat. TechCrunch has spotted icons in the Android version of theapp that shows the company is working on calling features: one for traditional audio calls and one for video calls as well. The tech site speculates Instagram might be considering putting this into its Direct Messaging system to put it squarely up against Snapchat. This isn’t the first time this option has been talked about, though.  Support for these features have been spotted in testing last month.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ gets earlier release date, coming out on April 27th

Fans asked and we got it. Or should we say Tony Stark asked so we got it? Marvel Studios just announced that the worldwide release date for Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a week early with the release pushed to April 27 from the original May 4 release. Marvel pulled a rather good stunt to make the announcement, roping in Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a. Tony Stark to help break the news somehow. You can see the exchange after the cut.

Consumer Reports names iPhone X as best smartphone camera

If you're wondering which smartphone today has the best camera, Consumer Reports has just named the iPhone X as the top pick.  The number 2 and number 3 spots are also taken by Apple with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus filling those positions.

It seems Apple has found continued success in its camera hardware, software and computational algorithms that ensure the best possible photo as per Apple's standards. The availability of features like Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting elevate smartphone photography to an extent.
