Google seeks students help with open source dev work with Google Code-in program

In case you haven’t heard yet, Google has opened its Google Code-in 2017 student program with the contest happening starting November 28. Basically, the tech giant is calling on pre-university students from around the world ages 13 to 17 to help out with open source tasks. Participants can win everything from certificates, t-shirts, hoodies, and a chance to win a trip to Google’s California headquarters. On top of that, the program doesn’t just give kids access to these open source tasks but it brings them in contact with mentors from Google’s participating organizations, too. This helps them learn how it is to work on open source projects. You can find out more about the contest here.

Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon Prime Video

With the over the top success of Game of Thrones on HBO, it stands to reason that content creators and streaming services are looking for the next habit forming sword and sorcery series. So, why not go to the definitive property of the genre, which is J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Sure, Peter Jackson's mined the trilogy as well as the Hobbit prequels but there's much more to Middle Earth and Amazon Prime Video has the rights.

Amazon announced today that it has acquired the global TV rights to The Lord of the Rings. Amazon Studios will produce a multiseason television series in cooperation with New Line Cinema, the Tolkien estate and HarperCollins. The multi-season series will not retell the main epic story (we already have 10 hours of film dedicated to that), but will pursue connected storylines set in the same world.

Injustice 2 reveals Fighter Pack 3 with Atom, Enchantress and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Injustice 2 is the most popular superhero-based fighting game which brings DC's finest heroes and its most sinister villains together in engaging and hyperrealistic fights. Aside from the usual DC characters, we've seen some outliers like Mortal Kombat characters and the new Fighter Pack 3, now features the Atom, Enchantress and all four of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (who apparently fight as one).

The Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition and the Ultimate Pack feature a grand total of nine additional playable characters, along with three Premiere Skins that can change select fighters into alternate characters with new skins, voices and dialogue lines. They also include two exclusive Gear Shaders that enable players to customize the look of their roster with alternate color themes.
