Is there a Quentin Tarantino ‘Star Trek’ movie in our future?

Quentin Tarantino is known for his love of genre films but the director has steered clear of gigantic film franchises. However, that might change soon. Deadline reports that Tarantino pitched to producer J.J. Abrams his original idea for a Star Trek movie, which he could possibly direct. The report says the pair plan to assemble screenwriters to develop the concept into a screenplay.

The move makes sense as both filmmakers have big projects they’re working on: Tarantino is set to start shooting his next film, which is a drama set in Los Angeles around the time of the Charles Manson murders, while Abrams is working on Star Wars: Episode IX. With the idea basically a concept at this point, we can’t even say what it’ll be about. But we’re wondering if a Tarantino-led Trek film would be something yoou’d like to see?

‘Star Wars’ star Mark Hamill creates tragic backstory for Luke Skywalker

Lucasfilm Ltd

Actors need to create an identity and backstory for them to get their characters right. And for someone like Mark Hamill, who has played the iconic role of Star Wars’s Luke Skywalker for so many years, we aren’t surprised he has his own idea of how Luke ended up being the way he is before The Last Jedi. It has to be said that this idea Hamill shares with Entertainment Weekly isn’t considered canon or part of the Star Wars narrative. It’s just something the actor created to find the motivation of his character. And what do we learn? He thinks something devastating had to happen. “I wrote lots and lots of scenarios,” Hamill says. “I made notes that he fell in love with a woman who was a widow and had this young child.”

Screenshots show Android Oreo might be heading to the ASUS ZenFone 3 & 4 soon

Taiwanese company ASUS has promised it would be bringing Android Oreo not just to its current generation ZenFone 4 line but also to its predecessor. They didn’t specify though when the updates will be coming. ASUS ZenFone Blog obtained screenshots though that show what the ZenUI will look like with Android Oreo. It’s not much different with how the current ZenUI looks like but you get a new pull-down notification shade and icons in the settings menu. We can’t say yet what else they plan to add but we can expect the update to bring features like better background app management and picture-in-picture mode. ASUS has promised it’ll cut back on bloatware with Android Oreo, by how much we can’t say yet. For now, we have to wait for the update to come.

Review: Azio's Retro Classic Mechanical Keyboard

Text and photos by Seamus Bellamy

Good looks and mechanical keys—what’s not to love?

Azio’s Retro Classic Mechanical Keyboard doesn’t come cheap. Starting at $190, the price of owning one is obscene. But my God, is it pretty. When Azio’s PR rep asked if I’d like to take one for a spin, the answer was an immediate ‘yes.’ I needed to see if they keyboard’s function could come close to mirroring its form.
