Review: Apple AirPods

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

I would say that Apple has had two major innovations for 2016. The first would be TouchBar on the new MacBook Pros and the second are the Apple AirPods.

The TouchBar, I hear, was actually in development for many years with the price of OLED touch panels a huge factor in integrating it into the MacBook Pros. The AirPods, which are a culmination of various Apple technologies and the biggest answer to the, “why get rid of the headphone jack?” question remind us why Apple shouldn’t be counted out of the innovation game.

Look at this levitating speaker from LG

LG has been showing off its wares ahead of CES early next month and this time around the tech manufacturer ventures into audio territory. It’s not just any speaker, though, it’s a levitating speaker. The thick base of this off-white lunar lander-like speaker houses the subwoofer for that bass you will be looking for. The hovering speaker itself is an omnidirectional speaker with control options placed on it. LG claims this Levitating Portable Speaker comes with Dual Passive Radiator technology for “flush mid-range tones and crisp highs.”

Battery life is expected to last for 10 hours and when it runs out of juice it’ll slowly descend back on land, much like a mini lunar lander would. You will still be able to use the speaker when it’s charging but where’s the fun in that? There’s no word yet on pricing and release date for the speaker, though.

A new ASUS Chromebook with USB Type-C gets leaked

Just a few days ahead of CES, we might expect to see a new Chromebook from ASUS showing up at the show. Chrome OS news site Chrome Unboxed discovered a listing for an unannounced model, the ASUS C302CA, on Newegg. The full specs and details of the Chromebook was put up but the listing was later taken down.

It showed that the C302CA has a 12.5-inch 1080p touchscreen and works as a 2-in-1 convertible tablet. It’s powered by an Intel Core m3 2.2GHz processor and has two USB Type-C ports, a microSD card slot, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. This configuration of the Chromebook retails for US$499 (around CA$670).

Carrie Fisher has completed her work for 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'

The sad news of Carrie Fisher passing away leaves behind questions of what her involvement in the upcoming installments of the new Star Wars trilogy would be. According to io9, there are multiple sources that have confirmed that Fisher has already completed her work for Episode VIII. It’s been said she was also supposed to appear in Episode IX but we won’t be able to verify that until Episode VIII comes out. According to Episode VIII’s director Rian Johnson, we’re supposed to see how Leia’s journey, now a general for the Resistance, continues but now we’ll also be faced with the truth that the story will need to change past the eighth film.
