Review: Tom Tom Spark 3 Cardio +

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Few fitness wearables offer the range of specialized features and conveniences as Tom Tom does. The Spark 3 Cardio + Music combines one of the best standalone fitness tracking solutions, a GPS and a built-in heart rate monitor with the ability to independently play back music and other types of audio files.

Understated and elegant, the Tom Tom Spark 3 is all business and is actually one of the most mature products in the market. Looking back to Tom Tom’s collaboration with Nike +, this is easily the first fitness wearable sold on a mass scale.

‘No Man’s Sky’ Foundation Update is now up for download

We recently talked about the upcoming Foundation Update for No Man’s Sky. Well, now said update is already available for download and brings base-building capabilities with it. It now lets you develop a desolate outpost into your own base that you can upgrade with housing, storage buildings, and research facilities. If your base-building skills are up to par, you can attract alien settlers who bring their set of skills to your base. Aside from that, the game also now has a Survival Mode, which shifts the quiet pace of the game into something more challenging. In Survival Mode, you have fewer resources to work with and stronger adversaries to deal with. This isn’t the last update you can expect for the game as Hello Game says this is the “first of many free updates.”

VLC adds 360-degree video support

VLC is hands down my favorite video player and this latest addition is going to score it some brownie points with those obsessed with 360-degree videos. VideoLan introduced in a technical preview the ability for the desktop app to play 360-degree videos, panoramas, and photos. It’ll work with both Windows and Mac machines and will come to the full version of VLC 3.0, which is expected to drop at the end of the month.

VLC’s creators partnered with 360-degree camera maker Giroptic to develop the system, which will also work on its mobile apps. VLC will also support virtual reality headsets such as Google’s Daydream VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift. You can use your mouse and keyboard to navigate the footage and photos. Aside from that, VideoLan plans to add 360-degree audio support, including head-tracking headphones. But this will come at a later unspecified date.

New Apple Campus 2 video shows compound in its nearly done form

The new Apple Campus 2 is near completion and a new video taken by Sexton Videography shows the massive compound and the many cool outdoor features to it—including solar panels that can possibly turn the Apple Campus into a self-sustaining city. Not only does it show the main circular structure, there’s also a glimpse of the saucer-like underground auditorium, a gigantic 20,000-car parking lot, R&D center, and many more.
