Square Enix introduces ‘HITMAN Companion’ app for iOS and Android

Players of Square Enix’s HITMAN game are in for a treat. You now have a new companion app to help you out when you assassinate people. Aptly calleda HITMAN Companion, the free app keeps you in the loop about the latest news and updates added to the game. It’s considered a rather helpful feature with HITMAN’s episodic nature. Aside from that, the app will send out notifications when Elusive Targets are released. And while you’re playing the game, the app can show you the image of your target, which comes in handy when you’re playing an Elusive Target Contract. Aside from that, you’ll see a countdown timer and a briefing video for the duration of the contract. The app is available for download on both iOS and Android.

Twitch debuts PlayStation Vita app

Twitch has finally thought of bringing its streaming video app to the PlayStation Vita. The new app works similar to what they rolled out for the PS3. It lets you tune into live and pre-recorded gaming sessions and lets you follow your favorite channels. It’ll also let you discover new broadcasters through the featured section. But if you expect to stream games yourself, then we’re sorry to disappoint but you won’t be able to do that. If you want the app though, just download it from the PlayStation Store.

Samsung ups the microSD card game, its latest are 5x faster than what’s out there

MicroSD is getting a huge upgrade with these new cards from Samsung. The South Korean tech giant introduced new cards that have flash storage. It comes with 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities and uses the JEDEC Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 1.0 Card Extension Standard. The JEDEC standard promises that these cards will be five times faster than any other card out on the market. These have read speeds of 530 megabytes per second and write speeds of 170MBps. For comparison, the new SanDisk Extreme 256GB microSD card has a read rate of 100MBps and write speed of 90MBps.

One of the things that might hamper adoption of these new microSD cards is price. We’re not sure yet how much Samsung plans to price these as flash storage is just starting to become affordable. These new cards are being positioned for camera use so another thing is the JEDEC standard needs wider adoption. And that means the likes of Canon and Nikon need to get onboard.
