Toyota’s new concept comes with a 3D-printed dash

Toyota’s thinking past the millennials and into the next generation a.k.a. “generation Z” with its new concept. The uBox has been made in collaboration with graduate students of Clemson University’s International Center for Automotive Research to teach the students about the ins and outs of car design and manufacturing. And while it won’t become a production car, we could see some of the integrated technologies make its way in future Toyota vehicles.

What is so special about the uBox? It has a customizable dash thanks to 3D printing. You can customize things like vents, dashboard display fixtures, door trims, and the like. It even has a curved glass roof and 110-volt sockets inside and outside so you can have it power your electronics, too. Talk about speaking to the next generation.

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Fans of smaller smartphones and refugees from the iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5S models who could never consider a larger phone, now have somewhere to land with the iPhone SE. This smaller iPhone has the same power, performance and camera capabilities as the larger iPhone 6 based devices that have ruled the market these past two years.

On one hand, it brings back a popular and known size and form factor and imbues it with the latest processing power, camera technology and software enjoyed by the larger flagship iPhones; yet it doesn’t look new or as innovative as some of the newer devices that have come to market.

Logitech to buy Jaybird for $50 million

Logitech has reached an agreement with Jaybird to acquire said wireless audio maker. Logitech says they’ll be paying US$50 million in cash with the possibility of $45 million more if Jaybird meets its growth targets in the future. Logitech is looking to boost its audio offering, particularly those in the wireless audio market, and they think Jaybird has done especially well in that respect. The company says they plan to “feed the Jaybird brand,” which could mean future products will carry the Jaybird brand. The deal is expected to close in the coming weeks.

Ben Affleck set to direct a standalone Batman film

Ben Affleck’s days as Gotham’s Dark Knight aren’t over yet. In fact, he’ll even be working behind the scenes for it. WB Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed during a CinemaCon panel held in Las Vegas on Tuesday that they will be working with Affleck on a standalone movie for Batman, which he will both star in and direct. Rumours started in July that the actor/director was working with DC’s Geoff Johns, who oversees most of the company’s materials including movies and TV shows. They haven’t released any specific detail yet on when this solo Affleck/Batman film is happening but we should be hearing more about it soon.
