CES 2016: Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 family revealed

Few PC manufacturers can iterate and refine their products on a steady and regular basis the way that Lenovo has for its ThinkPad line. The X1 series is all about power and portability with the flagship being the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, regarded by many to be the best notebook PC at its price point.

This year at CES, Lenovo is flexing some serious muscle, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is now the world’s lightest 14-inch business ultrabook at just 2.6 pounds (previous version was over 3 pounds). The new flagship is faster and thinner but also drops the multi-touch feature on the display. Check out the video above to see what this new flagship notebook has to offer.

Canadians can now buy an unlocked Lumia 550 Windows 10 smartphone for $189.00

Microsoft's cheapest handset ever is the Lumia 550 which can now be purchased unlocked for CAD $189.00. Featuring a 4.7-inch display (1280 x 720 resolution), all-plastic body, 8GB of storage (expandable to 128GB), 1GB of RAM, 4G-LTE connectivity and Windows 10 (without the 'run your PC  OS from your phone' Continuum feature). The Lumia 550 does offer the Cortana voice assistant, access to Office Mobile and OneDrive plus various Windows 10 Universal apps.

Microsoft seems to have given up on Windows Phone, which now has 1.7 per cent of the global mobile market share. A telling sing is that the company didn't even bother to properly launch or promote the higher end and pricey Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices and accessories in Canada.

Review: 21.5‑inch iMac with Retina 4K display

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

A 4K-capable iMac can also do double duty as an entertainment hub, for streaming video and watching live TV with the appropriate apps and devices.

While 4K and Ultra HD resolutions have long been pitched on TVs and projectors as the ideal home theatre experience, I’ve maintained the belief that the immersive nature of 4K resolution would best serve monitors and computer displays.

With the 4K 21.5-inch iMac and the 5K 27-inch iMac before it, Apple has made 4K technology a compelling feature for next generation computer displays and all-in-one PCs in a way that many TV manufacturers have failed to so for high-end 4K TV sets.

Movi camera helps your live stream go pro

Perfect for the Periscope and Meerkat generation, the Livestream Movi camera helps add a professional touch to your live stream videos. The camera can stream over Wi-Fi or LTE with the latter pairing with an iOS device. But it does more than just record videos, it promises to give you multi-camera effect in a single device. You can control this all with a companion app, meaning you can highlight various portions of a scene and treat each one as if it’s a separate virtual camera. And yes, you can virtual pan and zoom, too. You can juggle up to nine perspectives simultaneously (up to HD resolution).

The camera itself has a 150-degree wide-angle lens and 4K native resolution. It has digital image stabilization and stereo microphones. But you can also use the microphone on your iOS device as an external audio source via Wi-Fi. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth LE 4.0, which you’ll need at initial setup. It has a 16GB microSD card included for local recording and it has a microUSB port as well. It will start shipping in April at US$399 but pre-order customers will get it for $199 in black or white. A Movi Pro version will be available for $649 or $399 for pre-orders and that will come with a Movie Boost compact dock, K&M stand, universal mount, and other accessories.
