The Apple Beat: Focusing on accessories

As far as accessories go, these are very subjective things. The colour, look and feel may not be right  for everyone, but the whole point is that now consumers have more choice including ones that are consciously made for their product by Apple.

2015 has seen an unprecedented release of products from Apple. Not only has it covered the requisite updates in most of its major categories such as MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones and iPads. We've had a deluge of new products. The 12-inch Retina MacBook, new Retina iMacs, Apple TV, the iPad Pro, as well as various accessory categories. We've also seen a new Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad as well as Magic Mouse peripherals.

In the past month alone, we've seen the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil for the iPad Pro, which are both necessary adjuncts to complete the creative and content creation aspect the iPad Pro promises. We've also seen an elegant charging dock for the Apple Watch, which maximizes its Nighstand Mode feature, plus Apple's very first Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 6S. Apple, it seems, is making more products and devices than ever before.

Watch: The first trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse is out

Shot mostly in Montreal, Canada, Bryan Singer's latest joint, X-Men: Apocalypse, gets its first trailer and it is a doozy. We start with Sophie Turner as Jean Grey having a premonition of death and then a rundown of the new X-Men as well as the new supervillain Apocalypse, an ancient mutant with various fearsome powers and an extinction agenda for the world.

Ford to invest $4.5 billion, release 13 new Electrified Vehicles by 2020

On the way next year is a new Focus Electric, which features all-new DC fast-charge capability delivering an 80 percent charge in an estimated 30 minutes and projected 100-mile range - an estimated two hours faster than today's Focus Electric. (Graphic: Business Wire)With an industry-wide shift in focus to electrified and hybrid vehicles, Ford has announced its plans to invest in developing EV solutions and technologies in the US and Canada.

Ford is investing an additional $4.5 billion in electrified vehicle solutions by 2020 as well as changing how the company develops vehicle experiences for customers.

“For 70 years, market research has been done by asking people for their opinion. But Ford has always been fundamentally skeptical about that. Henry Ford used to say, ‘If I asked people what they wanted, they would have asked for a faster horse.’”

Ford is adding 13 new electrified vehicles to its portfolio by 2020, when more than 40 percent of the company’s global nameplates will come in electrified versions. This represents Ford’s largest-ever electrified vehicle investment in a five-year period.
