Wikipedia on Android now comes with article previews

Wikipedia on Android is making it easier for you to do your research with its latest update. There’s now a preview pop-up feature that shows you a snippet of information and a few images of a particular article, while reading one of Wikipedia’s entries. You can opt to click through and read the rest of the entry or go back to your original search. The app also now supports tabbed browsing so you look through different research threads without losing track of anything. Wikipedia now also has a quick language switcher button as well, which you can access once you’ve tapped in the “Search Wikipedia” box.

The Wikimedia Foundation plans to bring the preview feature to iOS soon and “is exploring” bringing the feature to mobile web as well.

Smart camera prevents you from taking unoriginal photos

Thinking of taking one more shot of the Eiffel Tower from THAT angle? If you have the Camera Restricta, you might not be able to do that. Copenhagen designer and artist Phillipp Schmitt developed the device that can track its location and look for geotags of the area. If you approach an area with an excessive number of tags of that particular landmark, for example, the shutter button will retract and a red X will appear on the viewfinder. It has an antenna and sounds off with a Geiger-counter-like sound to let you know if you’re about to approach a heavily photographed area. Although we’re not sure what classifies as too many. This tool though can help you push your creativity further.

Issue voice commands for Sphero's BB-8 on Android

Sphero's BB-8 droid was missing the ability to take voice commands on Android. Now, that's changed as a new update for its Android app allows for voice interaction. You can now command your little droid to "go explore," among other things. The latest app update also fixes some communication issues between the smartphones and droids. It's also now compatible with more Android phones and tablets.
