WifiMapper comes to Android

Android users who have been hoping that WifiMapper finally makes its way to their devices have to wait no longer. The app just launched for Google’s mobile operating system and brings with it some Android-only features. WifiMapper, for those who don’t know, helps you find free Wi-Fi hotspots around the world. The app also shows if there’s a time limit for connectivity, if you need to register, if the network is secure or not, as well as details on connection speeds.

Android users can help curate these pieces of information and connect directly to these hotspots within the app. You can also see your hotspot connection history and stats about how much data you’ve used and how long you’ve stayed connected on certain networks. Right now though, to help edit or comment on these hotspots you’ll need to sign in via Facebook account. If that doesn’t appeal to you, there will be an email sign-in option coming in the future.
